    Rechnungen in Deutschland

The document is in German by default (English or bilingual on request) and follows the DIN 5008 business-letter layout, so the client's address fits a window envelope. Choose 19% or 7% USt per line, or the treatment that applies: Kleinunternehmer under § 19 UStG, reverse charge for EU business services, a tax-free intra-EU supply or an export. Each prints its legal note.

Invoices in euros with an IBAN can carry a GiroCode, which most German banking apps scan to fill in the transfer. Company details such as the register court and number and the managing directors go into the footer.

    Frequently asked questions

What must a German invoice (Rechnung) include under § 14 UStG?

The full name and address of both parties, your Steuernummer or USt-IdNr., the invoice date, a unique sequential number, the quantity and type of goods or services, the date of supply (Leistungsdatum), the net amounts per tax rate, and the tax rate and amount. Invoices up to 250 € gross need fewer details. The checklist tracks each item as you type.

How do I write an invoice as a Kleinunternehmer?

Choose "Kleinunternehmer (§ 19 UStG)". No VAT is charged and the invoice prints "Gemäß § 19 UStG wird keine Umsatzsteuer berechnet."

Do I need an e-invoice instead of a PDF?

For domestic B2B invoices, sellers with 2026 turnover above 800,000 € must issue e-invoices from 1 January 2027, and everyone from 1 January 2028; until then a PDF needs the client's consent. Invoices to consumers, invoices up to 250 € and small businesses are exempt. This tool makes PDFs; an e-invoice (ZUGFeRD) option is planned.

What is the GiroCode on the invoice?

A QR code (EPC QR) with your IBAN, the amount and the invoice number. Many banking apps scan it to fill in the transfer. It appears when the invoice is in euros and has an IBAN.

    Is the layout DIN 5008?

Yes: the recipient sits in the window-envelope field, with the info block beside it, optional fold and hole marks, and a three-column footer for address, bank and register details.

    Do you store my invoices?

No. Your invoice is sent to our server only to build the preview and the PDF, and the PDF is deleted within an hour. Your business details, draft and recent clients are saved in your own browser so you don't have to type them again; "Clear my data" removes them.
